ARCHITECTURE OF MEMORY AND THE TEST OF WAR, at Czech Embassy London, 29. 11. 2023
As part of the celebrations marking 10th anniversary of its establishment , the Czech National Trust introduced at the Czech Embassy in London ARCHITECTURE OF MEMORY AND THE TEST OF WAR, at Czech Embassy London, 29. 11.2023
Architect Petr Franta, supported by the historian Richard Bassett and moderated by the curator of the project Irena Zantovska Murray , talked about the challenges of bringing the Cairn of Peace, a historic memorial at Slavkov/ Austerlitz into the 21st Century. By designing a striking educational and activities setting, he has shaped a precinct that not only honours the original structure, but newly serves as a strong platform for discussion and debate. With the test of war very much around us today, this was an inspirational talk followed by a short discussion and a visit to an exhibition of the architect’s main projects , of which the Václav Havel Prague Airport will be probably known to all participants.
Reception which followed was amply supported by Czech Embassy, CzechTourism and Budwar bier company ! Huge thanks…..
